Seneca County IDA looks to entice dental lab to stay in New York

 

The Seneca County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) said today it is lobbying for an expansion of BonaDent Dental Laboratories to be located locally, even as the firm considers sites outside New York.
The Seneca County IDA during its meeting Friday morning approved a resolution to support the project with "financial incentives," according to a news release.

Paterson signs law to 'enhance' health-insurance protections

 

Gov. David Paterson on Thursday signed a bill meant to "enhance" consumer protections in case a health insurer or health-maintenance organization discontinues a class of policies or contracts.

The legislation, known as "Ian's Law" amends the New York State Insurance Law to require insurers to certify several pieces of information to Superintendant of Insurance James Wrynn.


OASIS/HealthLink programs open in new site

 

The OASIS/HealthLink Learning Center has moved from ShoppingTown Mall in DeWitt to the former Telergy building, next to the DoubleTree Hotel, off Carrier Circle.

The new location gives OASIS/HealthLink 11,000 square feet of programming space, doubling the size of its original space in the mall.


DiNapoli audit says Medicaid overpaid for dental care

 

New York's Medicaid program paid more than $40 million for excessive dental cleanings and oral examinations over a five-year period ending Aug. 31, 2009.

The finding is part an audit New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli released today.


St. Elizabeth Medical Center chooses new CEO

 

St. Elizabeth Medical Center on Friday announced the appointment of Richard Ketcham as its next president and CEO.

He'll begin his new job on Sept. 8, the hospital said in a news release. Ketcham most recently served as president and CEO of Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk in Western New York from 1986 to 2009.
