Profit at Alliance unchanged in Q4, earnings rise in 2011

Alliance Financial Corp. (NASDAQ: ALNC) earned $2.8 million in the fourth quarter, unchanged from a year earlier.

Earnings per share in the period totaled 60 cents, up from 59 cents in the fourth quarter of 2010. For the full year in 2011, Alliance earned $13.3 million, or $2.80 per share, up more than 14 percent from 2010.

ShoreGroup to expand in Onondaga County

ShoreGroup, Inc., a New York City-based information-technology company, plans to create 200 jobs new jobs in Onondaga County by the end of 2016.

The company already employs 113 people in software development and managed services at a location in Syracuse. In addition to the 200 new jobs the firm expects to add by the end of 2016, ShoreGroup expects similar growth in the following five years.


Profit tumbles more than 74 percent at Anaren

Profit at Anaren, Inc. (NASDAQ: ANEN) slumped nearly 75 percent in the company’s fiscal second quarter to $1.2 million, or 8 cents a share. Net sales for the period fell 17.7 percent from the same period last year to $35.7 million.


Auburn Memorial Hospital talking partnership with Rochester General Health System

Auburn Memorial Hospital is considering an affiliation with Rochester General Health System.

The hospital and health system are starting talks to try to work out the details of a potential agreement. Auburn Memorial Hospital, a 99-bed acute-care facility, expects to spend four months discussing the possible partnership with Rochester General Health System, a health-care delivery system that includes the 528-bed Rochester General Hospital.

First Niagara profit rises 27 percent in fourth quarter

First Niagara Financial Group (NASDAQ: FNFG) earned $58.5 million in the fourth quarter, up more than 27 percent from a year earlier.

Earnings per share in the period totaled 19 cents, up from 22 cents in the fourth quarter of 2010. For the full year in 2011, First Niagara earned $173.9 million, or 64 cents a share, compared with $140.4 million, or 70 cents a share, in 2010.
